Conversational User Interfaces
Conversational UIs are becoming expected by users because conversational interactions are inherently human. They offer instant learnability and enable proactive capabilities that were previously impossible.
Conversational User Interfaces Will Be Expected by Users: Conversational user interfaces are expected because conversational interactions are inherent to humans. People learn at a very early age to ask questions and get answers to them. This is a capability for all people of all languages.
Instant Learnability: The value of knowing how to interact with an application without having to learn its user interface is compelling. This does not imply that user interactions should be exclusively conversational, but the use of applications where a conversational UI is available will result in significant utilization of this feature.
Generative AI Enables Proactive Capabilities in Applications That Were Previously Impossible to Deliver
This shift in human-machine interaction means focusing not only on agentic AI system capabilities, but also on managing a new user-technology collaboration paradigm. This paradigm is driven by expectations for personalized, proactive and outcome-oriented experiences, necessitating a fundamental rethinking of software design and user interaction models.
Emotion AI adds empathy, fostering anthropomorphism and expectations of humanlike performance. However, unrealistic expectations could lead to disillusionment if systems fail. Excessive trust could also cause users to ignore inaccuracies.
