What the change means for product, UX, service and interaction design, front-end development, and the accessibility that no single function owns.

This page reorders the material of the other two sections for the design and build side: Product Manager, Product / UX Designer, Service Designer, Interaction Designer, UI Designer, Front-end Developer — and the Accessibility responsibility, which the corpus says belongs here but rarely has a dedicated owner.

What changes for product & design

  • The interface learns the user. The expectation of a zero learning curve, chat as a universal default, the user’s language replacing the system’s taxonomy, progressive refinement, and memory and context adaptation all land on design and front-end. See The conversational interface.
  • From showing to doing. When the system is expected to act, design moves from laying out options to defining delegation, confirmation points and recovery paths. See Agentic AI: from showing to doing.
  • Serendipity becomes a design choice. Exploratory browsing and casual discovery must be intentionally redesigned, because the system optimises for what was asked. See Serendipity declines.

Responsibility without an owner — Accessibility. The corpus assigns this function a job no other can take on: building internally what the market does not offer, because commercial tooling for voice, XR and AI content is effectively nil in 2026 and WCAG 3.0 does not arrive before 2028. If no one holds it, the accessibility decision is made by default — it waits. This is a design-and-engineering responsibility before it is anyone else’s.

Responsibility without an owner — Trust calibration. The five artefacts (a delegation scale, confirmation points on the irreversible, situated uncertainty signals, traceability of actions and sources, recovery paths) are dispersed today across UX designer, content designer, PM and legal.
